🐦‍⬛8.10 Luhu: 25-26 Project Annual Theme Announced

This year we do things differently. No monthly themes. We go big with one annual theme: When a Bird Flies Past the Window 🐦

The idea comes from a book with the same title. The book says: everyone is a potential birdwatcher. All it takes is looking up, seeing a bird outside the window, and appreciating it. That is the first step. Birdwatching has no limits of time or place. It helps us notice our environment, feel the change of seasons, and reflect on the connection between humans and nature.

What We Want You to Do

  • Record your encounters with birds. Warm moments, healing moments, surprising or even conflicting ones.

  • From these stories, discover how people and birds live together in the community, and where conflicts appear.

  • Share the warm stories to inspire more people to care about birds. For conflicts, think together about how the community can respond and improve.

The Goal

We want to collect real stories about human–bird relationships in the community. Whether you are a resident or a visitor, your story matters. Together we build a culture of paying attention to birds 🌱.

What Will Happen

Our activities this year include regular birdwatching trips, indoor events, and bird–window collision surveys. From the regular birdwatching, we may even create a booklet with community birdwatching spots and signature species in each park.

We want you to build a habit of observing and recording nature. At the same time, you are welcome to join other citizen science projects in Chengdu—I will share updates regularly.

This community belongs to both residents and birds ✌️

Coming Up in August

Here is the group’s August activity calendar, including details of the first event with time and location. Save the dates for the ones you like.
