🦅9.8 Raptor Station: Congrats to Longmen Mountain for Adding its 36th raptor species!
The cold air gave a strong push this year. Because the temperature dropped fast and daylight hours shortened quickly, the migration started earlier.
Last year at this time, almost no raptors could be seen at the raptor station. This year in just seven days of monitoring, the count has already reached 417+1263 individuals.
Today I went up to Niuxin Mountain. The morning was clear. I reached the observation point early, hoping for an early raptor surge. But the strong passage only began after nine o’clock.
At 11:30 a magnificent Bonelli’s Eagle appeared. First time recording this species! Congratulations to Longmen Mountain for adding its 36th raptor species!
