🦅10.13 Raptor Station: New Raptor Monitoring Site Discovered — Changqiu Mountain Joins Chengdu’s Raptor Network

A new raptor monitoring site has been discovered. Until now, Chengdu’s raptor monitoring network had two main stations: Longquan Mountain guarding the city’s east gate and Longmen Mountain covering the west and north. The only gap was the south.

Located just 50 minutes from downtown, Changqiu Mountain in Pujiang is a hidden gem. Dr.Xiang has studied this mountain for years, and I was honored to join him and many friends on this trip. His stories and stunning photos of raptors soaring over Changqiu inspired all of us.

When the fog lifted, the open landscape revealed a perfect raptor-watching view. Birds passed overhead, glided below our feet, perched on towers to preen, and rested calmly on treetops. It was a living sky.

Changqiu Mountain just opened to the public during National Day. The facilities are excellent — cars can reach the observation site, toilets are nearby, camping is allowed, and dining options will soon improve. Down the mountain, Shou’an Town has great food and cozy hotels.

With Changqiu Mountain joining, Chengdu’s raptor monitoring network is now complete. Longquan in the east, Longmen in the west, and Changqiu in the south — together they protect the skies above the city. Let’s keep watching and keep climbing.
