🐦5.23 Wildlife Tech Lab: The Owl Rescue Mission
I was in the middle of my english final project when I got a call from my lab director. Urgently, he asked me to head to a complex 3 km away—he figured I was the closest. Four owl chicks had fallen to the ground, and he was concerned they’d either be illegally caged by residents or attacked by stray cats.
When I arrived, I checked the chicks. Three were in excellent condition, still capable of putting up a fight. One was slightly underweight, but overall, they were healthy and injury-free. After hydrating them, I found an optimal release spot. With the parents watching closely, I released the chicks in two rounds, retreating to a safe distance to monitor until I confirmed the chicks were stable and had been fed.
It was a sudden disruption to my project workflow, and I only had basic tools on hand, but fortunately, they were enough. Saving an owl—does that grant me the “Owl Smartie Buff” for my exams?
