🐦‍⬛7.26 Luhu: Our Library Corner Relocated and Upgraded

I was wiped out today from hauling books up and down. Felt like a full-time librarian setting up our new reading corner lol. But it was worth it.

We had been planning for a while to make community book borrowing easier and more flexible. We also wanted a place where people could sit down and read comfortably. Now the library corner has officially moved.

Before it was hidden away at the foundation office on the 8th floor of a commercial building. Starting today it is at the Cocomat Lufang store on the 2nd floor of Lufang Plaza. Much easier to find. And yes there are cozy seats so you can read like in a small studio.

Opening hours are now 11:00 to 21:30 every day. That is longer than the old 9 to 17 schedule at the foundation office. Borrowing and returning is now fully self service. Just scan the code on site to check the rules. No need to contact anyone. The process is simpler and more flexible.

At the reading corner you can also pick up our project handbook and some fun stickers drawn by kids in the community. This is a good way to welcome new residents who first come for furniture at the cocomat store or books and then join our project group and events. The booklist has been updated as well. Besides the original 15 books such as Birds of China Handbook Peregrine Falcon and Feathers we have added 4 new titles A Few Things About Birds World Atlas of Bird Nests Braiding Sweetgrass and The Senses of Birds. Except for the Birds of China Handbook each title has only one copy.

Big thanks to Cocomat for offering the space. In this hot summer if you do not feel like birdwatching outdoors just borrow a book here and enjoy birdwatching on paper at home.
